Enjoy a weekend of swinging rhythms with two big bands, the Singapore Jazz Orchestra (SJO) and SWS City Swing. On 4 & 5 Dec, the SJO brings you jazz in its purest, most intricate and exhilarating form. Indulge and jive to jazz standards, bebop, as well as new original music. And swing by on 6 Dec as SWS City Swing performs an evening of jazz standards and groovy popular favourites that will get your feet tapping and your fingers snapping at the Esplanade Waterfront.

COMWORKS 2010

Singapore Wind Symphony (SWS)  and Band Director Association (BDA) are jointly organizing COMWORKS 2010 in conjunction with the SYF CENTRAL JUDGING for Primary Schools Concert and Brass Band. This is a series that SWS has successfully organized for several years providing an opportunity for Band members to participate actively with SWS for the preparation of the SYF competition.

COMWORKS 2010 will provide 3 features for schools that participate:

1)     Students to hear their Choice piece performed live at the concert hall directed by their own band director/conductor

2)     A 45 min Joint Rehearsal between SWS and the School Band at SWS band room so that they can pick up the finer points of the choice piece & set piece from SWS accomplished players.

3)     As there will be several other School bands participating in this event, SWS/BDA will organize a “MOCK” SYF competition , going through the routine of what will happen on the actual day at the Concert Hall. This will enable Students to experience the feeling of competition day and not suffer severe nervousness which affects the performance level.
